Inquiry 1 Reflective Narrative

For the first inquiry project, you will reflect upon a meaningful moment in your life and convey your experiences through a narrative. Throughout the process of this inquiry, you will think critically on your own writing practices and rhetorical decisions. Each instructor’s prompt is unique, but many require that you write about your beliefs and experiences with writing and communication, a moment in which you overcame difficulty, or an experience that impacted your identity. The reading questions for each of these essays will point you to effective rhetorical strategies for reflective narratives, including elaborating on an interesting insight or theme, balancing reflection and summary, maintaining appropriate tone, drawing in the reader with sensory details, and using transitions for clarity. Additionally, the questions will ask you to reflect on your own communication experiences, which may help you brainstorm for your own project.
